Kaylee Mak-lin

Executive Summary

Kaylee Mak-lin is a young, aspiring research scientist. She is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree at the University of Ottawa in the field of Biomedical Sciences with an optional focus on Biostatistics. As an emerging promising scientist, she is particularly interested in enhancing public understanding and acceptance of enabling innovations within the life sciences. Acknowledging the urgent need to address global environmental pollution resulting from a variety of eroding anthropogenic activities, Kaylee has a robust interest in articulating programmes and initiatives aiming at creating less polluting and more sustainable laboratory environments, particularly vis-à-vis the current creation of a significant amount of plastic waste.

In her current role as an Executive Vice-President of the graphics division of the Canadian Association for Research in Regenerative Medicine (CARRM), Kaylee has articulated several educational initiatives to enhance public knowledge and understanding of regenerative medicine. From a broader perspective, Kaylee has a great interest in brain and immune system signalling pathways, along with topics regarding the human microbiome, epidemiology and biochemistry.
